Question About The Map Lights On Auto Dimming Rear View

Hey everyone! I recently purchased an auto dimming rear view mirror for my 2006 Rubicon. The process was pretty straight forward and it looks like everything works as it should. I am getting an OC reading under the Compass (where the temp should display), but I'm assuming that's because I don't have the ambient temp sensor. I ordered the one Chris recommended in another thread and it arrives tomorrow. Hoping that resolves that issue. The question I have is in regards to the map lights. The bulbs are pretty ugly, and it was something I noticed as soon as I plugged in the mirror and they lit up. Is this how they came, or does this happen from age? Looks like how they came 'cause the layout of the bulbs are the same on both sides. I just want to make sure it's normal or if it's something I should have the eBay seller replace. I've attached some pics so you can see what I am talking about. On a side note, has anyone swapped some LED's into this? And is it possible to polish the glass without damaging it? Has two light scratches that are noticeable but not the end of the world.

Yea that's how they looked from day 1. I have had my 2003 Sahara since 2004. Once you realize it's 90s technology u get over it. I think Replacing them would be a pain in the a$$ and you might damage the case. I tried for a long time to separate the plastic casing to fix a different issue but gave up after a few hours because I was really stressing the plastic.

Yeah, you're right. If it's gonna risk messing it up, I'd rather keep it as is. It works perfect anyway. I was more concerned knowing this was original/working, so that's a relief. Thank you for your response!
