Questions about potential 97 TJ purchase

Tough to tell with out more details, mileage, engine size, stock or modified, what mods if any? Soft top vs hard, all weigh in the cost equation. Have any pictures to show?
Biggest concern for all of the TJs is rust in and on the frames, they have no drain holes and can rust from the inside out.

Pics of the interior, pics of the tires and wheels, pics of the top (inside and out), pics of the frame, and pics of the axles (front and rear, front and rear of each housing)

As you can tell, the are so many factors to price/worth. The one that gets most people, is the title clean? Is it a salvage title/rebuilt title? So many different variables can rolex the price left to right.
The axles are more than likely worth something.
Looks like a full float rear and what looks like a 60 front but small tubes...? 8 lug rear? Is the front 8 lug as well?
That is not the average TJ, looks heavily modified and may bring a higher price if done right. I see 5.7 Hemi on the side, is there a V8 Hemi in it?
Its also got a 5.7 swap. What transfer case is in it?
Im guessing its upgraded as well. It prob will be a 241 or an atlas, if I had to guess. I would be surprised to see a 231 in it.

Any pics of the frame?
Depending on the frame, how well it drives and brakes, the owner could prob ask in the 15-20k range and get it fairly easily. He could prob ask more and wait for a buyer willing to pay for it all. All that, If it also has a clear title and its not a salvage or rebuilt title.

Based off the way you asked your question and the Jeep you provided photos of...is it safe to say this is your first Jeep purchase?
If so, I would advocate for something else. A bone stock Jeep, 4.0L with a manual trans, or something...not so modified.
This thing could be a nightmare if issues start popping up. It would take someone with a few years of experience in the Jeep world to work on it and troubleshoot it. Someone who knows how to work on one tons and non-oem wiring.
It’s your money, buy what you want. Im just advocating for a more sensible Jeep to start with.

This is solid advice. This could be a nightmare or even if a perfect build, if you don’t know what your doing it could turn into an absolute nightmare.
For example, I had a very heavily modified FJ40. This was a rock crawler, stretched, cut, swapped axles, on 39” creepy crawlers, etc. the only stocking part left on it was the frame. Everything was from different vehicles, hell the transmission was from a Aussie cruiser that you couldn’t buy here in the states.
Guy that bought it was not a off-road guy. I tried to even talk him out of it, it was not the rig for him but it looked tough and cool and he even mentioned he was going to pay a shop to fix a slight oil leak the tcase was having.
He bought it, had it shipped across the US to North Carolina, and then sent me a huge bitchy email about how it wasn’t great on the road, the body was not perfect, the shop charged him 4 hours to R&R the tcase to fix the leak....
Point of this whole story, if you cannot work on it and don’t know what parts are from what....you should get a stock or stockish TJ.

If they are asking $8k, you are being scammed with someone’s Jeep they don’t know their pics are being used. Nobody, builds a TJ like that and pays to have 5.7 Hemi put on the side without it really having a hemi.
Run away OP and don’t send a “deposit” to hold it cause it sooo in demand.
