Destroying them might be a good thing. Who makes those? I spray mine with Armor All. Slippery when wet. I've never seen any that shape.
You might try freezing them overnight , that would make them stiffer and slightly shrink them.
I haven't done this , but it doesn't cost anything to give it a try. Good Luck I hope you find a solution !

But it can be - think a sec- take a worm drive hose clamp and put it on it and see if that helps then drive it down in with a wooden dowel- wrap it in a feeler gauge shim first to protect it if needed-
You have a spherical bushing slightly bigger than the outer flange to work as a heim joint sort of-
Might do a test with your old ones- put them in hot water and see if that does anything -
If you have one still assembled just wash it in simple green, like soak in a pan, and rinse it - the new grease will flush any residual out.
