Radio problem

I have a 1999 Jeep Wrangler ragtop. It has a sound bar that was installed back in 99 also. Just recently the radio stopped the volume. It is a very little volume but the radio still works and is not cutting in and out. First I thought the job was stripped so we tried taking the night off, but either way you can get the volume up barely passed the whisper. Anyone have any suggestions of what to try?

Could be the internal amp inside the radio. I would try swapping a speaker with a new or known good one first to rule those out. Then I would try swapping the head unit.

I recently installed a Kenwood media receiver in mine. They are designed for music on USB, Bluetooth, IPOD, iPhone, etc., and have a very short chassis. If you no longer use CD's, then this is an option.

I opted for the more expensive BT315U which can operate the phone hands-free but they also have a much cheaper version, the 108U if you don't use it for a phone.
