Like many here I've had to raise the third brake light to accommodate a larger 33" tire. While I've used several different methods before, this latest one was easy, cheap, looks good. In this instance, the parts used consisted of the following:
Edit: One big caveat to this job is the 33" tire won't work with a stock bumper. You'll need to raise the spare tire mount, or get an aftermarket bumper.
- Four 1/2" PVC couplings (.70¢ ea for a total of $2.40)
- Four M8-1.25x60mm bolts ($5.04)
- Four washers for the M8 bolts
- Can of black spray paint
- Piece of 220 sandpaper
- Scuffing the PVC connectors;
- Painting them black;
- Removing the stock third brake light bolts (Assuming the spare tire is removed);
- Setting the new painted couplers under the stock third brake light assembly; and
- Lining up and installing the new M8-1.25x60mm bolts and washers.
