Hello,

I'm trying to get an 06 Unlimited up and running to see if it's worth restoring (to drivable anyways) I've read a bunch of posts about rear e brake shoes and watched the video in the how to section. I thought I had it back together correctly but still having some issues getting the e brake to hold but the brake shoes were hanging up . When i watched the video around 8:32 it shows the spreader and how its supposed to move but what I didn't realize is there are two pieces to the assembly that pivot. Mine was so rusty I thought it was one piece. This was holding the shoes apart some all the time. I found a link to separating the pieces which I was able to do but now my question once the two pieces are put together do they just float in the rectangular hole through the backing plate and the shoes and brake cable keep them all aligned?

Thanks in advance!

Brian

Yeah. I just changed my parking brake shoes over the winter while also replacing swapping out the axles for a set with fresh seals.
Passenger side assembled.

Thanks every one for the help!
GoldenGorilla - Best pictures I’ve seen of this! Also one of my pending projects as the caliper mounts are really bad. Need to get the frame assessed first to see if it’s worth keeping.
Thanks again!
