Rear frame side control arm mount reinforcement

I'm afraid if I keep bending these and straitening them back out they are eventually going to break or crack. I'm sure some of you out there have found ways to beef these up or add some protection. Looking for suggestions.

I was thinking of shortening the ears a little.
Less to hit and less leverage when hit.

Wouldn't your control arm nut be better protected next to the tire?

I have the same issue. I was thinking of straightening mine out, then using cardboard to make a template for each side, once dialed in I'll use some 3/16" plate then weld the plates to the mount to make it thicker.

I like that Idea. I'll give it a try, if that doesn't work out I'll just get a set of weld on ones from Barns.

I straighten mine trimmed it down and boxed it in.

@NskLJ Sorry to resurrect an old thread but.. how much did you trim away? It looks to me like you have about the same amount of margin around the mounting hole as I do. I'm planning to box mine in and from the look of it, I'll just box in the factory shape/size to leave plenty of room around the bushing. But, if you really trimmed a bunch, I'd like to hear about it.

Also, boxed in with 1/8" I assume? The boxing will make it so much stronger than it was, and seems silly to use anything heavier than what the rest of the mount is made of...

I think I was able to trim about 1/2” of mine. I welded a flat piece where it gave the control arm enough clearance when I cycled the suspension then I trimmed back the mount. I finished welding it and smoothed the edges. I would always hang up on the right rear frame mount now it slides across obstacles. I used something similar to the factory thickness( what I had)
