Replacement fuel pump too long?

I’m in the middle of replacing the fuel pump in my 2004. Ordered the Delphi DE FG1221. Upon unboxing the new pump, it’s physically about 2 inches longer than my oem pump. Test fit in the fuel tank has it bottoming out and sticking out the top of the tank.

Am I missing something? I’ve triple checked the new pump is the correct part number for my year.

It's spring loaded, press down on both sides to seat in the gasket.

I’ve been chasing constant fuel issues, decided to go for an access panel. Not pretty but I can at least avoid dropping my tank a third time.

I had to drop my tank 6 times, it was a bad hose and fpr.
