I've noted in a few threads on this forum that I converted my stock Sanden a/c compressor to OBA a few years ago. This uses an oil mister to introduce oil to the unit, and collects the oil on the output side, prior to actually distributing the air. Last fall, the a/c compressor (not the clutch) seized up on me.
I purchased a new a/c compressor and plan to install it the next few days. Its already pre-oiled, but the instructions say to add additional oil on the upside. I need to scan a QR code to get the specifications of the oil to be used. Obviously, all of the instructions and tests (running a vacuum, etc.) are specific to the compressor being used for a/c with R134A refrigerant.
Does anybody have any recommendations for ensuring the compressor is well oiled for initial setup for OBA use? I plan to increase the drip rate of my mister as I suspect an insufficient flow led to the demise of the previous unit. I want to do everything I can so the new unit is sufficiently primed for its first use.
