New to Jeeping with moderate mechanical ability. Tracking a rhythmic knocking noise coming from the rear end/under body area of my 2004 Wrangler sport. Seems to happen more after driving a bit. Increases with speed so it's a wheel or shaft?? 4.0 with 4in lift and 33's. Was thinking it was a rear drive shaft ujoint but upon removing and inspection they look fine and rotate well. Gonna change them anyway while I have it out. I'm thinking maybe rear axle bearings? Again a newbie to Jeep.. Thanks in advance for any insight..

Since you have the rear driveline removed take it for a short drive and see if the noise is still there. Put it in 4wd and drive on the front driveline.
U-joints will make noise at a rate much faster than you are moving. Squeaks or clicks or clunks or whatever, they will be happening so fast by the time you hit even 10 or 20 miles an hour, you'll barely be able to distinguish them any longer. They are usually heard best just rolling along without even touching the accelerator. Most any bearing will groan more so than clunk. And you can usually change the intensity by getting on and off the accelerator or by turning one way or another etc. A deep, rhythmic clunk from the back could be as bad as a problem with the ring and pinion, or could be as easy as an issue with the brakes. I am having this same issue, except, it only happens at low speed (5-10 miles per hour) and when I am braking. Sounds like its coming from the driver side rear?
