Picked up a pair of used RJ 60 axles and started getting them cleaned up for new upper link mounts. On both housings, the top face of one set of threaded holes is at an angle and the holes are shallower. The holes are 7/16" deep rather than the 7/8" of the other pair. Since the casting is 1 1/16" tall here, any reason not to extend them down to 3/4" deep? Thinking center drill a 1/2" bolt in the lathe to use as a guide. Then use a angled spacer to bring it up to the height of the other set.

WHere did you score rockjock 60s used? I'm very jealous, assuming you didn't pay $15,0000.

They came under the one on the right. Goal is to put them and the Atlas under the one on the left. They're not ideal, but close enough for what I hope to have into the swap.

I ended up drilling and tapping them deeper. Made up a 1/2-13 bolt with a 5/16" hole as a guide and then came back and drilled the casting out to 27/64" and hand tapped it. Stopped a little short of the top of the casting beside it.
