Rookie coil spring replacement

Finally getting to replacing front springs.(1sagging,stock original),trying to order a set online, but finding way too much terminology for me. I just want replacement springs that will slip into place but with a mid-range stiffness.( I will be replacing the ft shocks as well ) any suggestions for a 97 tj ? And will I need other parts such as coil spring insulators? I know I can do this myself but I need to know what to order. Thanks so much ! Pref U.S. made

Your insulators are probably still good. Check to see if the retaining clips on the bottom spring perches are still there, and replace those if they are missing or broken. Moog makes a pretty reliable replacement spring, and they aren't horribly expensive.

You're just trying to find stock height springs, is that what I am taking from this?

If so, I'd probably put new shocks in at the same time, unless the shocks are relatively new as well. Other than the shocks, I think everything else would be fine.

He's looking at springs and front shocks. Stock heigth. The rubber spring isolates are probably in good shape. The spring retainers tend to be missing, but you only really need those if you flex enough to unseat the spring.

Moog makes a reputable spring, but they only come in a one size fits all for the TJ last time I looked. They should last as long as stock springs and give a similar ride. Not horribly expensive, and redily available. It's only a couple of hour job to swap springs out in the driveway after the liberal application of kroil to the fasteners.

@neskie what did you end up doing? I am in a similar situation.

Not sure if this helps but I replaced mine with Moog. 3226 and 3227 are the front/rear part numbers. Super cheap and good, stock like replacement springs. I wound up sitting just a tad over stock height but my rig is pretty light as far as they go.

Someday I may go with the H&R 1" lift springs but if you're looking for something quick, cheap, reliable that matches stock - the moogs I used are a great option
