Seat geometry

I'm ready to do this too. I have the washers on my work bench but the ones I got are much larger, almost the exact size of the plastic spacer.
The thing I noticed is that the bolts that came with the spacer kit (that are installed right now) do not appear to be long enough to handle 1/2" height of the washers so it's back to the hardware store to get bolts that are 1/2" longer.
One thing that is frustrating me is how the driver's seat is soft and much more worn out than teh passenger seat, which is nice and firm and practically new. I wish there were a way to swap them.
You can pull them apart and swap the foam. Also, your drivers seat might have torn foam around the frame. I'm replacing my foam currently (I actually think the stock seats are pretty comfortable). It was allowing the seat to sit lower on the left and causing discomfort in my hips. Anyway, here are some pics...

I glued in some more fabric to help support the foam over the edge of the seat frame.

From what I can tell, the seat foam is symmetric from pass side to drivers side. The only difference appears to be where the seatbelt cutout is and that would be easy to replicate. I actually have two sets for seats right now, torn apart in my garage. Believe it or not, my factory seats (I assume) were both passenger side pieces. Same number and everything. The Drivers side with passenger foam did not have any relief cut for the seat belt and it fit fine.

THANKS!!!!!

I took my seats off the sliders. Welded two 3/4” nuts together for each corner. Then welded the nuts into one end and a bolt to the other. This method left the base flat on the floor and raised the seats 2”. Since then I have shortened the front set 1/2” and raised the rear 1/4”. I will try to get a better pic later today F35B8F4C-1B95-440D-B0BF-96032D254F51.jpeg

Maybe you should have welded some new foam and seat cover too... hehehe... I couldn't resist ;)

Is replacement foam still available? Part of my reasoning for wanting to lift the back of my seat was to prevent the seat from "scooping" me into it, new foam will probably fix this!

This is a great idea! I'll probably do something similar to this, seems a bit safer than messing with the tub mounts. Try to post some up close pictures of the nuts you welded on!

So far replacement foam is no longer available and pictures will be in the next couple of days. It is only 8° outside this afternoon.

How'd you go about doing that?
I went from 1999 seats and bases to 2006 seats and bases. It lowered me quite a bit. But I’m ordering PRP Enduro Elite seats tomorrow so hopefully it doesn’t raid me to much. I’m 6’5.5”

I'll answer with a firm maybe. I was doing some cross referencing one day and looked up the foam part number. It crossed over with a mid 2000 Dodge Ram. I don't remember exactly...But there is a company online that makes replacement foam for different model trucks. I bought from them when I replaced the seat foam in another truck I had. Anyway, Its HERE. I didn't pursue any further...Not sure if they make foam or not, or if its available from dealers.

I own a 2001 Sport and having read most of the posts about seat height I feel for me that is not the issue
Seat height issue is for 2003,4,5,6. Earlier TJ seats sat higher. In '03 Jeep felt the air bags would perform better if the seats were lower.... and they did just that.

Ah, I've got an '06 so I'll have to look at possibly modifying the OEM or finding an aftermarket bracket. I'm 6'2" but with the seat all the back my head is too close for comfort to the roll bar.

Do you recall what part number you were cross referencing? I have the parts list pdf for my 2002 TJ and I can't seem to cross reference anything on some of the mopar parts websites with RAM 1500's or 2500's

This is everything listed for what I believe is the bottom seat cushion for the TJ

No, I don't Sorry.

Look forward to seeing those . I have been looking at them as well . I am 6’4” and long in the torso .

I found some large, thick square washers at the hardware store, I don't know what they are called or what they are meant for. I stacked 6 of them and ran a bead of weld down the sides to hold them together and painted them black. They make a nice large foot to mount the seat to. I bought grade 8 bolts to mount the seats - I think the bolts cost more than the washers, but hey, anything worth doing is worth over-doing.....

I finally got around to doing this. My amazing wife is tolerant enough to see two Jeep seats sitting in our sun room all torn apart taking the better part of the floor space up.
I decided to scrub down the driver's seat lower seat cover and put it in the fryer on a rack to tighten the fabric up. It did no damage to the underside at all but I was careful not to soak that or scrub it.
Need to run to Wally world and get some thin foam to boost the lumber and side bolsters as they have worn. Really wish I could swap that top foam since the passenger seat was very firm like new.
