Ok so i have seen a couple videos of people placing the shifter in a vise and useing everything from pickle forks to slide hammers to separate the shifter.

What i do know is there are 4 detent balls that hold it together. Does anyone have a better way of separating the shifter. Installing new seal so it must com apart.

Just asking, because I'm not sure but...
There's not a set screw on it somewhere?

Thread a nut all the way down a bolt. Then thread the bolt to the two holes on the side of the shaft then use the nuts pull the inner plates away. Make sense?

It may seem like I'm arguing with you but I'm not, because I still don't know but, wouldn't that mean that while driving you could just pop off the shifter?

It’s pressure fit with retainer clips.

For some reason jeep used detent pins.

I should have clarified it is an AX-15

These are pictures from others showing them.
