Hubby blew the shocks on our 05 Rubicon on the dunes last weekend. We have a 5in long arm lift. We are debating between Rubicon Mono-Tube Shocks, or FOX Racing adventure Series. Opinions? We are looking to stay under $100.

Do a title search using “shocks” and you’ll find a lot of good information.

Also do some research on how to correctly extend the bump stops so that the new shocks don't get blown out again.

Neither. If you want the best ride quality, go with Rancho RS5000X shocks. I've run almost all the off the shelf shocks (including the Fox shocks) and they don't ride as good as the Ranchos do.

correct length Rancho 5000X and correct bump stop length and be done with it!

I agree with the above posts I’ve just installed a set of Rancho RS5000X shocks myself and I love them

If you like your Rancho 7000's, you would LOVE a set of 5000Xs. The mono tube design of the 7000 is great on a heavier vehicle (I've run them for years on my pickups), but they are way too stiff on a light TJ.

X5 to the recommendations for the Rancho RS5000x (not RS5000!!!) shocks. And of the 8-10 different shocks I've run on my Wranglers, Rubicon Express's Monotube shocks were BY FAR the worst. They rode ok on the highway but offroad they gave zero control, I had to literally slow down to 5-10 mph on dirt desert roads to keep the Jeep in control while everyone else was doing 35-45 mph and leaving me in the dust.

Im not sure at what point I move to being a midweight tj. heavy front bumper, winch, rear tire carrier with 33" spare, the ordered rocker guards add another 97lbs. My housemate says I am having a contest on how low I can get my gas mileage. :meparto:If I have to replace the 7000's I would definitely try the 5000Xs.
