Okay, so someone riddle me this
I notice both my tail lights are out today. I take the bulbs from my reverse lights and throw them in the tail light in a pinch since I was delivering for work.The bulb is a 1156a (?) bulb. The tail lights and brake lights worked, but the blinkers did not work.
I go to autozone, purchase a pack of 1157 bulbs as recommended. I put those in the reverse light. With the headlights/daytime light OFF and either side turn signal ON, my whole dashboard began to blink! This is where I thought I was doomed. The blinkers did not flash either. Once my lights were on, they still didn’t flash, but my blinker indicator on the dash remained solid and the dash didn’t blink. I didn’t check to see if the reverse lights actually worked because I didn’t have a hand at the time. Admittedly, the whole flashing dash freaked me out a bit too.
I decided to swap the bulbs around and all works well. I put the 1156a bulb back into the reverse lights where I took them, and put the new 1157 in my tail light/blinker. Keep in mind the Jeep thinks I have a front turn signal out because I didn’t use a resistor when removing the side markers. I only have a pair of front LED signals.
Dumb question maybe? I’d like to know why at least! Have had issues with the turn signals in the front in the past but it went away.
On a side note I put a pair of 6x6 LED pods in the front and a pair in the rear, switched up in the dash trim and man what a difference!
