I honestly might do that. The TJ is in much better shape than my XJ. There is a guy in a Facebook group with me that messaged me about trading. He had a XJ but traded it for the TJ about a year ago and he liked the XJ more so he wants to trade back. I forget if I posted pics of it in this thread so I'll post some here (I'm on my phone so I cant go back to check or else this whole reply would be deleted). Anyways the guy had a bunch of offers for around $4k and I paid $900 for my XJ and put about $400 into it. The owner wants to trade more than just accept cash so I could maybe get it and fix the few things wrong with it and then drive it for a few months while deciding what to do with the money if I sold it. I'll probably just keep 31s on it while I have it.I'm thinking a little different. If the TJ is in as good or better shape than the XJ I would do the trade. I would then spend some hours detailing the TJ, flip it and buy an XJ in better shape. Even a 4 cylinder TJ has better resale than an XJ. I have an XJ and an LJ and for daily driving the XJ is more comfortable. That being said, I would be cautious about a deal. I see two issues. 1. Your buddy doesn't know what he has and might get pissed when he realizes he got screwed. 2. Your buddy knows exactly what he has and you will be pissed when you realize you got screwed. Either way I wouldn't have a plan that meant daily driving a 4cyl, auto on 33's.
