Wildman, do you have a picture of rack setup on back of your Jeep?
Olympic 4x4 Products Sierra or Sierra II rack. I made some mods to it by drilling out the bar and instead of the pin I put in a bolt so I could clamp it down. It rattled way too much. But it's a good way to carry stuff you don't want inside your rig. I did dent it a little when I backed into a rock or tree once because I forgot about it.

Yes you take the spare off and mount the bracket which has a square tube sticking off it and then slide the basket onto the square tube.

Yes something has happened to their website. I don't know if this means they are going out of business or what?

So it fits same as a spare wheel bike carrier, does it put too much downward pressure on the wheel carrier?

I do like that though, this is what I use but it's a pain in the ass if you have to get in back and it's to low. Yes I know my top is on but its still cold up here.

I have a smaller hitch rack but now I have an idea to convert it to fit my spare wheel bike rack carrier, they have the same fitting to the tire carrier, I just need to take off the 2inch square hitch tube and bolt on a smaller one that fits over the smaller bike carrier bracket squaring.

I can't say since I had a swing out tire carrier. I haven't had my spare mounted on the tailgate since 2003. And I haven't carried a spare since 2008 when I went to the dual beadlocks. My tire and rim combo weighed in at 138lbs and I didn't want that hanging off the back. And since it was easy enough to break a tire down and patch it...

Silly question but what do you do for a spare put it in the back?

I like the thought of not having all that weight back there. Maybe its time to downsize.
