There's a metal recevier that the plate mounts to that it slides into the tire carrier

The rampage does require a header, but it’s fairly flat. Not sure if it would clear the hardtop, but likely not.

If you are looking for a shade cloth type I bought just the half cab because with the full length its too close to the hard top at the sound bar, there is barely enough room to poke anything under at the sound bar on my Hard top as there is a ridge that runs driver to passenger! If you fitted it with Hard top off it would go back on easy.
If you are talking about soft top type material then they all need a header channel different to the factory so you cant just run the hard top over the safari top header.
