Side-Step Differences for Early and Late TJs?

Hi all,

Anyone know whether these side-step (described as fitting a 01–06 TJ) would also fit a 97 TJ?

I don't think they will just bolt on, early uses 4 bolts per leg and late uses 2 bolts per.

I thought the early ones had nutserts in the frame that bolts went into.

Later had the U-shaped bolts that you maneuvered into the inside of the frame so they were sticking out. Then nuts when into those.

Here’s the newer ones. I think they also have a hook in the mounting bracket that goes into slots on the frame. Not sure if earlier ones have that or not.
