The shape is similar to the wok but the dish is not as deep. You can move food off to the cooler edges to keep it warm while continuing to cook over the hotter center section.
I can see it being a really versatile option for cooking and there are tons of recipes available. I frequently have a fire but open fire cooking isn't always a perfect solution.
No doubt it's a bit to put together and is a bit weighty.. 14lbs I think. The make a smaller Adventure Skottle table top version which might be better suited for a single.
I'm not sold on the idea. I do see value in a single cooking tool though. I am tired of burgers over the fire and I'd like to be able to cook under the tarp. I have single and double propane burners, pack them and never use them. Jetboil gets more use for boiling water. Just looking to up my game with meals.
My tailgate table isn't large enough to sit the skottle on the single propane burner, so I would have to find a camp table. That might be a more versatile solution. Plus the kit pictured, made by Tembo Tusk, is near $600 complete. That's a hard pill to swallow
Don't know. Still in "data acquisition mode". Maybe a better next-move is a small cast iron griddle for one side of the double burner and upgrade my tailgate table game.
Pictured: "Adventure" Scottle (table top version), Gas One single burner stove, Riley Stove Company folding steel table. I purchased adapters so that I can use 4 oz. iso-butane canisters, 8 oz. butane canisters, 1# propane bottles, and connect to a DOT propane tank.
