Skyjacker lift ride quality

Hi there,
Just purchased my first jeep this week. It’s a 2003 TJ with a 4” skyjacker lift. It looks great but it rides terrible. I’m wondering if I can just replace the coils and shocks with something better, or if I need to scrap the entire lift and start all over? Any off-roading done in this jeep will be dirt roads any easy trails. I don’t need anything high performance.

Well, if you don’t need high performance, you certainly have that covered with the skyjacker.

If you’ll be diligent and pay attention to what these guys tell you, you’ll get the jeep where it won’t beat you to death….

I’m not saying it’s going to ride like a Cadillac because it’s not a Cadillac, but it can be pretty tolerable.

Load range E is for a three-quarter ton or 1 ton truck and essentially is a commercial tire and it will likely be contributing a lot to your trouble.

I have only had it for a few weeks the PO did not know anything about it. Build sheet says it came with

thank you, I will look into that for sure. I also noticed that the tires are load range (E). I need new ones anyway so thinking of getting 15” rims with 33” load c tires. Hoping that helps as well.

Unfortunately unless you go away from the major brands, the only 15" tire options seem to all be load range E.

Is it normal for the front axel to spin while in 2wd? I know 4wd is not actuated because the steering has not changed.

Yes, there is no front axle disconnect like on the older jeeps and now again on newer jeeps.
