Diehard Warn fan because they have always taken care of me but we were messing with a bumper swap and had to move a Smittybilt winch over. Had to unspool some line and spool it back in whereupon I noticed a bit of design brilliance that is about as good as it gets.

Their corded winch controller has a little button above the in and out button. The solenoid pack has a switch on it. You can unplug the controller, hit the switch on the solenoid pack and the switch on the remote and now you have a wireless winch controller.

I still wouldn't run one of their shitass products if you gave it to me but that is a very cool way to do things.

Yep, that switch is very cool indeed. Hopefully they’ve updated it though as a number of people have had problems with it failing due to the rain. This was years ago, so I would like to believe they fixed it.

The Warn VR Evo is doing the same thing. While the concept is cool I do not believe either company has got it perfected yet. Warn has their new HUB bluetooth controller for those that cannot get enough time on their phones.

I have two of their winches. After all mine before being warn.

They work great. I do t have an issue and have used both many times, always pulling someone else out.

My Warn vr8000 has the wireless capabilities. I’ve used the winch a couple times - always wirelessly. Works perfect every time.

We installed one of the Warn versions that has the little tablet thingy for wireless control. It died almost immediately, the owner did not know it was dead until he needed to use the winch. There is no place to plug in a wired remote on that version. Warn, really? That is just dumb.

Ah yes the Zeon Platinum, a winch for Millennials. Lots of features but lacking in real world necessities. The only good news is the remote will function with a dead battery if you have a usb port to plug it into.

Yeah that sucks. No backup for that is a problem that I mentioned to them and was shrugged off.

That is just dumb. I would not use that winch for free for that reason and I don't often bad mouth Warn but that is just silly. Matt would not be pleased.

Redundancy is key to off-road. Come on Warn, Shittybilt figured it out.

I kinda like my X20 12# unit. haven't had a need to really use it yet, but all the features are basic and straight forward. I keep the chord for the controller in the glovebox just in case. The control unit under the hood and covered just for added safety.
