Thankfully I had just turned the corner and was going slow.. and was only a half mile from home..
Because one area is bad does not make the rest bad. That's like saying you had a leAk on the roof of your house and it rotted ONE piece of plywood then the whole roof is bad... Definitely not the case. I will repair what's needed and assess the rest of the frame. I'm sure there will probably be one or two more bad spots but not the. Whole frame. If one party of the frame is that bad isn't the rest of the frame pretty bad as well?
Replacing a part of it doesn't seem to make much sense. Seems like a band aid.
But i guess you don't have much choice sometimes.

Actually, if you can afford it, that is a pretty reasonable option. Add a $50 in etching primer and a $40 can of polyurethane paint and rock it for the next 50 years!Problem solved: brand new frame, just swap parts

I'm not sure i agree with the roof analogy. The plywood would rot bc of water intrusion, which means a bad spot in the roofing material. If the rest of the roofing is in good shape there would be no water intrusion.Because

Dont forget that eastwood stuff that you can slosh the inside of the frame to get rid of the potential for rust.Glad you made it home safe and sound!

Keep up the sermon, preacher! The flock must hear The Truth!Wow, that’s scary! It’s a good thing you weren’t going too fast for anything.
This is why I’m always so outspoken when it comes to inspecting frames for rust.
There are some on here who will say I am overreacting, but I’ll tell you what, when the rust gets really bad, it can actually be dangerous!
Glad to hear you’re okay!
