So what's really under my TJ?

So when I bought my TJ I thought it had a 2" body lift only, found out it has a 3" suspension lift and a 1" body lift. It's sitting on 33's. It has 4.56 gears with stock Dana 30/35. Control arms are stock, steering is stock. I just put a set of Rancho RS5000X shocks and steering stabilizer.

After watching a few other threads I'm wondering what has really been done now. Would the PO of the vehicle put a SYE in it? Any way to know? Would it had to have been done with this lift? How do I know if there are 1" motor mounts? Drive shafts?

I've done a lot of small stuff but my first big purchase will be upgrading the axles and then wheeling it with this lift. I just want to make sure that everything that should be done with this size lift has been done.

I just got the Currie Antirock for the front, can I install that with this size lift? I read it should need a 4" lift to run it so I haven't installed it yet but now that I know I have some more lift I'd like to install it. Thinking of getting the Currie steering as well, again, ok to install with this size lift?

Thanks in advance! I need to do some detective work now. Lol

Good post. So many of these Jeeps have been modified by so may owners with so may options , that finding out what you have is a great first step.

You got the right shocks. 👍

Post pics of motor mounts, driveshaft and anything else you question and you will get answers.

And be sure to measure both front and rear spring lengths to confirm lift height.

This is a SYE and Double Cardon Driveshaft set-up...

At 3" of lift...I'm not sure if you "need" an SYE. Someone may have cheated it a bit, and installed a transfer case drop..

Or

Motor Mount lifts come in a couple of different flavors...

The standard Lift block like JKS (and others) make.

Or An integrated motor mount / Lift system, like M.O.R.E. and Brown Dog manufacture.

you should be able to run the Currie Anti-Rock no problem. Pay attention to your end links though. The threaded rod may need to be cut.

Ok awesome! Thank you @Mike_H for the photos. It definitely has a transfer case drop, i've removed the plate a couple of times and it has the spacers that your first photo shows. Definitely does not have the Double Cardon Driveshaft so I'm assuming those are stock.

I will take some photos when I can of the other stuff and post them up.

Thank you all for the advise!!

No problem. Generally if people do a lift to just get bigger tires on, they do a transfer case drop. To really gain the benefits of a lift though, you'll need to get a slip yoke eliminator and a new driveshaft. It will probably run about 550 bucks in parts + labor if you don't want to tear the T-case apart yourself. This is an either or scenario though. You run a T-case drop OR a SYE and DC shaft. Not both (unless you have some really crazy lift height or something)

@Mike_H Ok, here are a few photos with questions attached:

This is the front track bar, is this stock?

Pitman arm looks stock to me correct? Not a drop one?

Rear track bar is stock?

No photo here but I checked the motor mounts and they are stock, no lift on them. That being said I wouldn't think I need 1" MM lift correct? That seems like it would angle the motor and transmission even more than it is? Especially since it has a transfer case drop.

My next "small" upgrade I think will be the Currie steering and front track bar. The Jeep "wanders" a bit but has gotten 80% better than when I bought it due to newer tires and new shocks. I've heard the wandering thing is a bit of a Jeep thing so I'm not thinking it will get perfect but it's pretty good now and Ricky from 4lowparts suggests beefing up the steering for sure.

Thanks for all the help everyone!!

Front track bar is not stock. Looks like a Rubicon express. That heim joint on the frame side is notorious for wearing out. JKS makes a good one, Currie is really good too, if you decide to replace. You have the factory pitman arm.
The rear track bar also looks factory, though you have a relocation bracket on the axle.

Regarding the upgrades your picking. The Currie steering is very good. As far as the wandering problem, check the track bar joint on the frame side. If that is worn out, it can let the front axle shift back and forth... Which might cause some wander.
