Source for motor mount and transmission mount

1998 4.0L AX-15

I might be needing to change my transmission and motor mounts as I'm chasing a shudder starting in first gear or reverse. Many older posts say to stick with the Mopar mounts. However, I'm having difficulty locating this part. Even the local stealership can't source one. Is there an aftermarket brand that's OK quality?

This "Bombproof" engine mount with good quality rubber bushings from M.O.R.E. is better quality than the Mopar is, at least in my personal opinion. It's actually better quality than even the Currie motor mounts I used to have installed until one broke its weld.

I couldn't find any good quality rubber transmission mounts anywhere, certainly not Mopar. I'd probably go to NAPA and ask to take a look at their premium mount and if its rubber is not stiff and hard I'd go for it.

MoparPartsGiant appears to have the motor mounts, although that may backfire after placing the order. 52019278AD.

They also appear to have the transmission mount. 52058551AB.

MORE is an acceptable alternative for factory mounts. So are stinkyfabracing's supersoft poly. Neither will absorb as many vibes as stock.

I would stay away from parts store crap. It pretty much all comes from Anchor as stock looking replacements, and they are way cheap. Terrible quality, and that rubber is hard as a rock and doesn't absorb vibes. Mopar is far and away the best if you can still find it. Expensive though. Sucks.

I have to say my rubber MORE mounts felt exactly like the Mopar, no added vibes like I experienced with Currie with poly bushings or Brown Dog with rubber bushings. To me, the MORE engine mount construction and quality is head and shoulders above any other mounts I've ever installed including the OE Mopar mounts it came with.

I do agree that the Mopars are not exactly a “sturdy” design…they can for sure lead to engine movement, and they definitely sag after a while. I did feel a difference in vibe absorption though. I don’t have experience but I hear it’s considerably more noticeable on automatics. I do agree the MOREs are a nice quality design, but I did feel a difference in vibes.

Are you running the MOREs on your auto currently? With the Mopars getting ever harder to find, the MOREs are certainly not a bad alternative.

Not running the MORE mounts on my current TJ, I installed the MOREs on my previous TJ.
