Spacer lift pros and cons

It's a common misconception that the purpose of a lift is ground clearance. The purpose of a lift is to get more tire clearance and articulation. The tire clearance lets you run bigger tires, which gets you more ground clearance. You've already got the bigger tires, now you need the tire clearance to get the articulation back (assuming your 31s are making contact at full flex). A BL does that, while keeping a lower center of gravity which isn't a bad thing.

Raising the frame either through a spring lift or larger tires is certainly valuable. Though, it is only valuable when you are already in a place where you are dragging the frame over obstacles. But we wouldn't be having the discussion we are having if that were the case. 😉
