Spare Dana 30 Axles

Would it be reasonable to go to the junkyard and get a set of used Dana 30 axles from an XJ as trail spares? I don't do enough wheeling to justify the cost of upgraded front axles, and I don't have a locker in the front either. Just the thought of breaking a front shaft and not having a replacement on hand makes me nervous.

I wouldn't bother since you can pull a broken inner front axle shaft and drive home afterward. Just keep in mind that the outer stub shaft MUST remain installed to keep the unit bearing hub from coming apart which would catastrophic.
