Spartan Locker Not Unlocking?

Hey guys,

I have a Spartan lunchbox locker in my dana 30 and lately it has been taking a while to disengage. It finally breaks loose after a couple of minutes in two wheel drive. How long should it take to unlock? Is there something I need to check?

only thing to check is center gap, spec is .145 to .170.... if anything else was wrong youd know immediately.

Just when torque is applied. Otherwise they are like an open carrier. Most of the time. which can make them a little difficult to get used to around town.

A locker that stays locked all the time is either Broken, or is really just a spool.

Yes - that's the reason for the original post - his aren't unlocking properly.
First thing I would check is the spacing like Shwiftypickle mentioned. My Spartan in my YJ was always on the slightly tight end of the allowed spacing and it would grab and lock up sometimes unexpectedly.

Keep your gas/power neutral after shifting back to 2wd. Decelerating or accelerating after shifting back to 2wd will make the locker take longer to unlock after shifting back to 2wd.

I have an Aussie, which is very similar to a Spartan. Sometimes a quick, sharp jerk on the steering wheel will make mine unlock if it's being stubborn. Other than that, it works perfectly.
