Speedo Gear Question

Long story short is it safe to drive the TJ with the speedometer not working from a mechanical perspective? (I need to drive the jeep then next few days and don’t have time to dig into this further until Thursday evening). I can use gps for actual speed.

Speedo is not working after I pulled the Speedo sensor from the transfer case to see what tooth gear was in there. I put it back several different times and tried to slightly adjust the orientation so it would catch and no luck. I also make sure connections are clean and secure.

You'll eventually get a check engine light but it won't hurt anything. Just keep rotating the speedometer gear housing, which is concentric, until it moves the speedo gear close enough to engage its pinion gear underneath.

Jerry ok this is fixed and it was my stupidity more than anything. After reseating gear earlier today I was in reverse and didn’t see any Speedo movement. Idling or hitting gas in driveway was same deal so I assumed something was wrong. Finally decided to move my wife’s car out of the driveway and take TJ around the block. Speedo is working just fine it just seems not much movement will happen on Speedo under 10mph. I feel dumb for sure. Thanks as always for the willingness to help.
