Another long shot post, based off some of my recent posting, I may not get what I need. I am looking for a certain measurement on the Spidertrax 3.5 inch Ultimate housing. I would like to know what the measurement is between the axle centerline and the rear most portion of the center section of the housing. Looking to make the most of a rear stretch and which rear axle to go with.

Attachments from the internet for the picture whores.

Ended up going with a Spidertrax 3.5 inch Pro Series housing for my YJ build. The crate was delivered today. The axle is built out of 4130 heat treated chromoly. It’s made 100% in the USA. It was a custom order and took less than a month to get to my door.

Ordered it full width with a normal centered diff, 3.5 inch full floater housing ends to run F450/550 style unit bearings, and I had them weld up their 4130 .120 thick skids on the bottom half of the diff.

The workmanship in the housing and it’s components combined with the craftsmanship in burning it all together is jaw dropping, the whole thing overall is a work of art.

If you are considering getting one for your build, I would highly suggest going this direction.

Lots of pics for the picture whores like myself. (Cardboard dust is all over it)

I’ve been thinking of building a 60/9” hybrid front housing from one of those housings for my Jeep.
That would be a fun build. I would grab some of the chromoly steering components that Crane offers with kingpin joints.

You're trail only, right? Driving little to no miles on the road? If that’s correct, the Spidertrax steering is very hard to beat. Very nice stuff.

Yeah it’s been a toy the last ten years or so. I trailer it anytime it’s more than an hour away from home. Doesn’t see much street use but does occasionally like today. I had not driven it since November of last year due to a spinal surgery and then some repairs/mods. So I had to go for a spin. That is a beautiful diff for sure

Yes you would be fine with a spidertrax steering axle. A lot of folks drive them on the roads to hit the trails. Id rather have the Spidertrax FF unit bearing over a Dana 60 FF spindle for ease of maintenance and troubleshooting.

Check out the Ultimate Summer Camp Jeep. You can find info on it online articles, youtube, and MotorTrend tv. He is running Spidertrax axles front and rear. He drives it down the highway often and wheels it hard without any issues.

So this is what a $700 chromoly unit bearing that is built for Ultra 4 looks like. 8 lug (8x6.5), screw in 9/16” studs, built in 35 spline drive lug, and Timkin bearings. They are completely rebuildable . Outer splines run dry on these, so ordered a new tub of ARP anti-sieze.

The only thing I would different with the housing is move the fill cap up and to the upper right portion of the diff for more uptravel clearance.

I am going to have to build a skid or something right under the fill cap to keep it free from getting damaged in the rocks.

What a beautiful axle! The only thing I don't care for is the lack of drain plug (unless its in the casting you're using). Can't wait to see it all put together.
Thank you. I can’t get over how amazing the Spidertrax stuff looks. Doesnt hurt that all their parts are built in house in Colorado.

You are correct, there is no drain plug. I don't mind using a pump to drain the housing for maintenance.
