I did a lot of research and went with a BOT inflatable paddle board. Solid ride. Great core workout.

Price is definitely a concern on these, I got all 3 of mine off Craigslist for about 50% off. I would have had a tough time justifying the botes at full price for sure. They are more work that a kayak but that is part of what I like, takes some core work and balance to stay up. We use them to surf the boat wake in the creek near a sandbar too.
