Starter Help

Good evening, happy new year and hope yall had a merry christmas.
i have been having issues with starting up my jeep and i have replaced the starter with a part from napa and it started up great yesterday after i swapped it, then today on my first start up it struggled a bit then on my way home the start up was just as bad as before i replaced my starter. i am not sure where to trouble shoot next and would greatly appreciate any help on this topic. i have done most of the work myself on my jeep and its has 135k under her hood.

Get a battery/alternator/starter test. Any auto parts store should be able to do it.

Do you have any issues with low voltage or dimming lights while the car is running? If so, your alternator could be going bad. If the alternator cannot supply sufficient current to run the vehicle and charge the battery simultaneously, then you will have issues starting, especially after shorter drives.

A bad battery could present itself as rough starting, particularly when cold.

Definitely check your battery next.
Is it winter (brrrrrr, cold) where you live?

Exactly what is happening? Is your starter motor not turning/spinning at all or is it just spinning the engine too slowly?

This kind of problem is commonly caused by either a dirty, corroded, or loose battery connection or a battery that's going bad. I'd first remove both battery terminals and wire brush them so they're bright and shiny clean. NO do not just look at them and think they're ok as they can look perfectly fine but still be bad enough to cause starting issues.

If that doesn't help take the battery to a specialty battery store and request that it be "load tested" which is the only test that will show the battery's true state of health. Nope a volt meter won't show a battery's health.
