Still working on my issue of difficult start on my 2000 4.0. I'm thinking about replacing the camshaft position sensor. If I just replace the sensor do I need to align the top center etc on the engine before installation? I was thinking of just removing the 2 screws then putting the new one on. Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Nothing to do but replace it. Use only a genuine Mopar sensor. This is all assuming your diagnosis is correct.

Have you tested the voltages on the TPS ? A TPS that is going bad can cause this same problem.
