Starting

I have a 2006 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited I'm having an issue starting it I put the key in and turn it and when he goes to the start position I get absolutely no noise no turnover no nothing... I got work today and 2 1/2 hours and I really need help anybody please

Is your battery dead? Do your headlights turn on at full brightness? Have you tried jump starting it?

Also try moving the shifter between Park and Neutral while continuously holding the ignition switch in the Start position to see if that does anything.

My battery is completely fine my dome lights and headlights are bright... I bought the jeep maybe five months ago. i'm home alone with no one to help me and no other vehicles to jump off of

What happened when you tried moving the shifter as suggested above?

If that didn't do anything, my guess is the 'ignition actuator pin' located behind the ignition switch has broken. That part is inexpensive and fairly easy to replace. Most auto parts stores carry them.

Did you try jiggling the switch and key?

I tried just about everything I can think I smacked the starter with a hammer I replaced the starter today I checked all the fuses checked all the wiring between the celonoid and the starter and the battery. I tried it in park and neutral I tried jiggling the key I tried smacking the key with a hammer a little bit to see if they would loosen anything. The only thing I can think would be the ignition switch and maybe the pin that this guy just mentioned

I also forgot to mention that my jeep had been repossessed in the past. I am capable of removing my key from the ignition while driving down the road. This makes me believe it's the ignition switch

But I have not experienced such problems since I bought it eight months ago. It always started just fine it started just fine three days ago

Ok. You asked for opinions for what the problem could be and nothing new was added that changes any of them.

Did you bother to go to and read the thread I gave you the link to above?

Everything works fine until it breaks.

I'm going to get a new ignition switch actuator pin tomorrow and see if that helps. I really appreciate your help.

Let us know what the outcome is, what you are experiencing right now, although a PITA for you right now, can help other forum members that might experience or be experiencing what you are going through.

After reading all this and the link Jerry provided, I'm considering buying an ignition actuator pin (keep it in my TJ) as it seems like they are prone to failure and getting stranded due to a $40 is something I'd rather be prepared for.

After reading all this and the link Jerry provided, I'm considering buying an ignition actuator pin (keep it in my TJ) as it seems like they are prone to failure and getting stranded due to a $40 is something I'd rather be prepared for.

After several years of knowing I needed to buy and carry one as a spare, I finally ordered one yesterday...

OK... I removed the old actuator pin and found that it was broken. I got a new one from AutoZone for $42 after-tax. I installed it and the truck started right up.
