Steering feels tight after replacing box

Depends on the road crown. Leaving JV, the highway back to Yucca Valley always catches me by surprise with a hard pull to the left for about a mile until it gets back to normal. There is no pull the same stretch in the other lane heading the opposite direction.

Also why I have to continually pound into folks heads that at no time is there any validity to any steering test while driving that involves hands off the steering wheel. SFA rigs tend to be far to sensitive to varying degrees of road crown to not pull some.

You're right, I should have been more descriptive...by usually not an issue I didn't mean that following road crown wasn't an issue, but that it would be unusual to have incorrect cross caster, for obvious SFA reasons.

So, a pull to one side will not be caused by misadjusted toe?

Not true. If you misadjust it far enough in or out, you can get a pull to one side under braking that swaps back and forth depending on road condition upon braking. You can misadjust the toe angle, what you can't do is get one side to be a different angle than the other while driving with viable parts.

There are other situations, like cross-caster that will cause a pull, and is actually used intentionally to act against a cars tendency to pull downhill on roads crowned for drainage.

An oddity that we ran into on several axles back when Currie was selling them was the Dana Venezuela HP 44 that was in the South American XJ models. When we ran them up here, we had to install an offset balljoint to reduce the cross caster due to it being much higher for the roads down there.
