I ended up installing a new steering gear last night. However I now have the issue where it turns more one direction then the other. (I can more to the right then the left). Is this an issue steering gear box or is there some issue?

Sounds like you need to remove the pitman arm and install it with the gears at center , you may need to remove it at true steering center and then center the wheels by hand and reinstall it .
Then expect to have to fine tune it with the fitting on the drag link , there are threads here on how to do that .
I thought the input and output were keyed such that you couldn't screw it up. The input has a flat spot and the sector shaft a pattern that matches the pitman. That would leave the new gear not centered when it came out of the box.
You need to adjust the drag link. Untill you are centered. When your tires are straight is the steering wheel straight?
