Storing hard top

I stored one on the side of the house sitting on some 2x4s. Open the glass and it made a nice dog house.

I've thought about storing out in the backyard all summer. So it's not taking up space in my garage

I made this with shelves for doors and rear seat and the feet have casters with wheel locks so I can roll it around and then put the brake on the wheels. Feel free to copy.

I also use a scaffold. It's so easy I can remove and install my LJ hardtop by myself.

That looks very easy for a one person job. Beats having to find someone to help you lift it off

I've been storing mine on a BesTop Hoss cart, stands upright in the corner of my garage

I made a wooden cart on casters. Base was the same dimensions as the tub so it sat down on the mounting lip and you could push it around without having to strap it down or be afraid it'd slide off. I'd just leave it beside my garage outside all year. Give it a hose off inside and out in the fall before reinstalling it.

Don't have a hardtop anymore. I really hated having it take up room.

That's my struggle too is all the room it would occupy in my garage. Unless I store it outside. Do you prefer a soft top over a shell? What about winter months? I've considered transitioning to soft top, just for the sake of not having to store a hard top

I just stick it behind the garage in the back yard. Just plop it down like how it sits on the Jeep itself. Nothing fancy.

Yeah I hate the idea of it sitting in my garage, especially since we hang out down there in the summer

When I had a soft top and had to open the back all the time, that sucked. It will tear up the skin on your knuckles and cuticles, it's tight, you cross your fingers and hope the zippers will hold and eventually the plastic window will crack. Otherwise when I wasn't doing anything that required getting stuff out of the back all the time it was ok. OEM heater is plenty. Hard top is nice for the rear defrost and wiper. Hold heats better, but the heater is really enough that it doesn't matter much, imo. Really I mostly just swapped to the hard top in the winter in a bid to make the soft top last longer. And I liked the look too, nice to mix it up.

I only got rid of the hardtop recently cause I bought a Gladiator for a year round daily... with a hard top.

This was when I lived in OH, PA, and eventually MN. If storage is limited I wouldn't bother with a hardtop at all in Nashville, personally.

Yes, hard top stays off all summer, back on late in the fall.

Thanks for the feedback. I enjoy the hardtop, just a pain getting it on and off by myself. And in my area, we don't get that much cold weather, maybe a few months. Nothing like up north. Might take the plunge to a soft top and just store the jeep in the garage those days we get freezing weather

That's my plan too. Finally got this thing running well, now I can enjoy it!
