2001 Wrangler, pulling the motor to rebuild into a Stroker. The factory exhaust uses a dual collector port configuration, into 2 small cats, then into a single cat and finally in to the muffler. Dual port headers are cost prohibitive as compared to a single collector type header. Can the less expensive, single collector header be used on a 2001 if I replace the rest of the exhaust tubing? There are 2 O2 sensors that are required for the emissions (check engine light) catalytic efficiency fault code.
Using a local muffler shop to bend/build the tubing, would it buy me anything to increase the exhaust tube size from 2.5 inches to 3 inches?
I'll be using Russ Pottenger to do the stroker head work. Larger LS valves, ported head & intake, bigger cam.
Thanks all.
