Where should the temp gauge read mine reads 210 gets there pretty quick never goes higher. Should I be concerned for the summer months or is that the norm for a 4.0l. Thanks

Yeah I think its supposed to sit right around that 200-220 area.
If it ever touches the "red" area and makes a noise, you need to pull over and kill the engine asap. Chances are the thermostat is stuck and that does happen from time to time, so know what to do there and you should be all good.

If that ever happens, the thermostat sticking shut, the thermostat should be replaced. That should never happen "time to time", it's not normal. My thermostat 1st choice is a 195 degree Stant SuperStat.
I've bought that one you recommended, I just haven't had the time to swap it yet.
I think i've had mine stick twice now and overheat.
@EJD Need to get on that sooner rather than later, bro. If you have your original head (0331 casting), overheating can easily lead to a cracked head and that, as they say, ain't good. It's on the not-improbable side that I'll be looking at that possibility on a soon-to-be-mine TJ (hope not :shakehead

In fact, I'd check now for signs of a cracked head (water in oil, milky oil, unexplained coolant level drops, coolant appearing on head or inside it in the valve rocker area - as viewed through oil filler hole, etc.).
