Tents: how do you camp?

I'm looking into figuring out how to attach a tent to my tj, or a good solution for camping.
What all do you guys do to accomplish camping with your jeep, do you have an attached tent?
Show off your solutions.

I like that solution, very nice!!! Does it have some sort of platform underneath the tent to support your weight (I mean obviously it has to)?

Who makes that setup, or is it custom?

Okay, well that's just about the most badass thing I've ever seen. I wonder how much it weighs?

The tent is a CVT Mt. Bailey http://www.cascadiatents.com/Mt-Bailey-Roof-Top-Tents.htm?m=87&s=615&&id=166, and it is a Ruger Trailer, http://www.rugertrailers.com/.

I really like the set up the tent has no wobble with my 220#, it sleeps very well and is very stable.

That was my thought. No way a TJ could tow that kind of weight safely.

I was looking into the rooftop tents out there, I might end up building my own.

I think it would be fairly easy to build your own all things considered.

We use a back packing tent like the Coleman Sundome. Cheap, small, light. It works for three seasons, four if you don't mind being cramped and taking a chance of getting a little wet. The Jeep is one step above backpacking for us. For anything of longer duration than three or four days, we break out the wall tent and the Suburban. That's nicer than my first apartment. Wood stove and hot & cold running water included.

I think it would be fairly easy to build your own all things considered.

Really...easy to build. Once you look at the engineering involved in the tent you'd probably rethink that position.

We've switched to Hammocks. I'm working out how to hang 4 hammocks and tarps off my TJ. Soft top has been the challenge.

Two-person tent with vestibules, 20-deg sleeping bag, air mattress. I bought a couple of those heavy wool blankets from the Army surplus store and put those down on the floor underneath the air mattress to keep it cozy. I've awoken to snow with mid-October camping so got to plan for the cold. The best time to camp out in CO, IMO, is around 4th of July. In the mountains it still drops to ~ 45-degrees, which is just about perfect.

Well I got a trailer. My dad and I started the build today since I'm in Texas for the week.
The trailer is so small and short compared to my jeep. XD
