According to what I can find on the web there is a different part number for 1998 and 2001 Jeep 4.0L. Have a 99 TJ, this is the last year for the earlier engine, the new engine started in 99 for the XJ and 2000 for the TJ. I'm building a 99 XJ engine that is exactly like the 99 TJ, it shouldn't be but it is. Need to find out what the difference in timing chains is so I can be sure to order the correct part. Searching the web, I find differences in older engines.
The early 87-94? is p/n C-3085 (48 link chain)
The late 95?-99? is p/n C-3041 (64 link chain)
But not the 98 to 2001. Melling lists 3385SA for 98, and 3385SB for 2001. Anyone know what's different?
