Tips and tricks for top half of rear main seal

It will move. You might need to give it a light tap with a hammer to get it moving. BE CAREFUL! I used a very lightweight uphostery hammer to tap my punch. Once it started moving, it was very easy to push around.

Both times I've done that job I was able to get it with the punch and tapping with a hammer. One of them was on an 87 XJ with the original seal, I thought for sure that wasn't gonna be easy, but actually wasn't too bad in the end.

Just gotta be patient and careful; it will eventually break loose and come out easily from there.

Ok, I'm in the middle of this, and so far, so good.
A couple questions:
Do I want to lube the whole upper half of the RMS prior to install, or just the sealing surface?
And how exactly, do you use the little 'shoe horn' that comes with the Felpro RMS?
