New to the TJ . Got an '06 Rubicon. What brand of air filter, spark plugs, accessory drive belt, oil and filter do you recommend? What brand and weight of oil are best for the diffs, tranny, and transfer are best? Is there anything else I should do to the Jeep? 144,000 miles and the rust is minimal. Plan to POR15 later in the year when things are dryer. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

New to me Jeep in addition to the suggestions above I'd also put in new coolant like Zerex G05 or any HOAT coolant. For parts if you have time you might check Rockauto.com. They have great prices on just about everything for our Jeeps except for the fluids.

And post a pic, we all would like to see your new Rubicon.

I'm new to Jeeps, and I did what I considered a normal "tune up" last fall... Cap, rotor, plugs, wires, filters, fluids, etc... Still had a small hesitation that I couldn't get rid of and a small knock on acceleration that I was thinking may be a small exhaust leak. Last weekend I got a P0138 code pop up after driving through a large puddle, so I went ahead and ordered both oxygen sensors ('99 only has two) listed in the thread @Chris made, and the improvement in driveability is just astounding. The knock went away, acceleration smoothed out, and now it starts immediately. Don't overlook the O2 sensors!

Yep the upstream O2 sensors are critical to the engine running properly. Hopefully you installed either NTK or NGK O2 sensors and not Bosch. :)

I went with the NGKs that @Chris listed in this thread

Prior to this the majority of my auto experience has been with German and Japanese engines. Unlike this 4.0, many of the engines I worked on before were very binary when it came to these sensors; basically when they needed to be replaced it was nearly a total failure and accompanied by an OBDII code or several. Up until that point everything ran fine. I never really considered O2 sensors to be a tune-up component, but you learn something new every day

Thanks guys. 'Preciate the help. Picture may be a problem tho. Only learned the texting stuff last year. No idea how the picture maker works on this fool phone. Maybe when my nephew is back in the USA he can learn me a new trick.

For engine oil I toggle between 5w-30 in winter and 10w-30 in summer being in New England. You in upstate NY could consider doing the same. What brand you use is up to you, same with using conventional, semi-syn or full synthetic. I usually go with Pennzoil from Advance Auto when they have a sale, and usually they combine the sale with a filter, like a Boss Puralator, PBL14670. If not a Purolator I go with Mopar OEM.

Serpentine belt can be any brand that Napa/Advance Auto has in stock.

Air filter I used a Purolater A25089

Gap those plugs man..,no joke. It matters.

Yeah, I just replace my plugs the other weekend with NGK's, and they were all gapped at just .025". Assume new plugs are wrong before assuming they are right.

Double check that. I had been using them for years and starting about 2 or 3 years ago they stopped fitting well in the airbox. I had to throw a couple out that I had on the shelf.
That could be, I don't think I've actually run Fram's air filters. I just watched how they were tested against other brands years ago and their test results were right up there.

I used to use fram. After all the misinformation and backstabbing between all the filter companies i stoped using all of them. I went OEM.

Now i use mopar filters on my jeep and motorcraft in my fords. If the manufacturer installed them that can't be bad.
