To LJ or not to LJ

Do yourself a huge favor and check if the LJ has cruise control / is pre wired if it doesn’t. I should have asked for another $500 off for that on my deal

Did you already sell the TJR? Don't know how I missed this the first time but I went through this last year and did it while keeping most of the mods I had put so much money and time into. The build threads linked in my signature tell the story.
Yes, I sold it a couple of months ago actually. My wife and I have been sharing a car...shes happy I finally have this thing lol.

And in Sahara they completely miscast Al…
The film was shot in 2003 on-location in Morocco as well as in the United Kingdom. It became notable for its many production issues, including doubling its production budget from $80 million to $160 million, lawsuits among the crew, and being accused of several violations of international law. Sahara grossed $119 million worldwide at the box-office, ultimately failing to recoup all of its costs and is often listed among the biggest box-office failures of all-time.

Well you can credit it for the creation of the most coveted Jeep trim package of all time. People love the Sahara edition TJ unlimited wranglers.

Interesting and impressive to see that the all time classic recipe of a shitless Matthew Mcconaughey could fail.

gets even better when I kept reading

The film opened at number one in the US box office, taking $18 million on its first weekend and ultimately grossed $69 million. It earned a further $50 million overseas, for a worldwide total of $119 million.[2]

Produced on a $160 million budget with a further $61 million in distribution expenses, its box-office take amounted to barely half of its overall expenses.[4] The film lost approximately $105 million according to a financial executive assigned to the movie; however, Hollywood accounting methods assign losses at $78.3 million, taking into account projected revenue.[4] According to Hollywood accounting, the film has a projected revenue of $202.9 million against expenses of $281.2 million.

I enjoyed the conversation about the LJ, I just picked up a good shape LJ upstate NY over Thanksgiving, it is an automatic so I am curious about the "PCM" problem I heard discussed in this thread
Thanks

I think it's a hard 1-2 shift when cold accompanied by some specific codes. The fix is a new PCM from Wranglerfix. I don't know a lot of the details but it's well documented on this forum if you search.

I have a 6 speed, mostly because I had axles already and would have had to regear them again if I'd gotten the 42RLE.

Welcome to the forum, Woodmaster. Given that it's from Upstate, how is the frame?

Congratulations and welcome! Lots of great info on this site. I picked up an lj in late 2019 and this site has been great source as I modify and maintain it to suit my needs. We need pics!

FWIW for anyone still on the fence about lj vs tj. I really enjoy the trunk space for wheeling and camping with the kids. Wheelbase helps for the east coast wheeling I primarily do and ride is a bit nicer than the standard tj. IMO. The primary reason for switching to an lj from a dedicated toyota rock crawler.

What fender flares are those?

I had a good chat with @mrblaine on LJ vs TJ a little while ago. My conclusion was that LJ .. even with the extra space is pretty really much a two person vehicle. The extra space is nice .. but as the saying goes, more space makes it easier to carry more junk :)

I do think a properly built LJ with 35s looks really nice and proportional.

They are mce 4.5 flares.

I typically have 2 adults and 2 kids under age 5 in mine easy. Tools a small cooler for lunch, drinks and snacks. Then some spare parts all ride in the trunk while we wheel. Granted I tow this to parks but will drive it for a weekend trip or day trip. The camping gear we usually bring foe that crew fills up the entire bed of the truck. My wife and kids don't pack as light as I do.
