Lot of people here wetting their panties about towing a 2000lb trailer for 25 miles, 1 time. You could do that with a freakin dodge neon if you had to.

Only way that bumper's coming off is if you take a serious hit. Contact dirtworx and see what they recommend. Are they the kind of company that would sell a bumper with receiver that can't be used? The lawyers would sue the crap out of them.

Well technically he could tow with a strap wrapped through the tongue tied to the frame.

Legally you need lights and safety chains. If he stays below the tow limit by 20% it will probably be fine.

But why not add what's needed for next time?

Wiring harness, frame mount, and a way to hook safety chains to the bumper or frame. Then if you never need them again, you saved $250 this time instead of $300.

Get a ticket and your savings go out the window. That's why I do tire and light checks before every tow.

Most accidents occur within that same 25 miles of home, it only takes losing control, being hit by someone else, tire blowout, etc. to create a real problem when you're at or above max capacity.

Only takes one time, and you only live once.
