Track bar bolt question

We had the tires rebalanced yesterday but we obviously don’t know if they are “good enough” or “perfect” but we told them we would drive it for a couple days and see how it reacts. They seem to be willing to work with us on this issue. I also don’t know what type of balancing machine they use but I’ve seen where it’s best to have them balanced on a road force machine.
I gave up on and stopped paying to have my tires Roadforce balanced, the results didn't seem to be any better than the standard methods. The key is the guy doing the balancing not the machine being used.

You might consider automatic balancers like the Centramatics or the Balance Masters discs. Basically they're a disc with a tube filled with either oil and pellets (Centramatic) or liquid mercury (Balance Masters). They readjust every time you hit about 15 mph or so.

Note that they do not balance side to side, but rather only in the plane of the hub face. But they do help smooth out difficult to balance tires.

Had the same basic symptoms.

New track bar, didn't do anything for me. Looks pretty though. And my old one was really old so whatever.

Removed the control arm bolts one at a time, cleaned them up, reinstalled and torqued to spec. Helped a bit with overall jitters, but didn't stop the shimmy at freeway speeds.

Rotated tires front to back, helped some. Took tires to be balanced by someone I trust, he did find that none of them were perfect, with a few being way out. Probably why the rotation had at least some effect. But still, didn't completely solve the issue.

Ditched the original steering. Replaced with the ZJ upgrade, including new drag link and stabilizer. That fixed it. If your steering is original just replace it. It needs to be done even if that doesn't fix all your problems.

The steering is original with 130k on it. This is definitely something I will look into. Is there a kit you bought for this upgrade or did you have to buy the individual parts?

I bought Moog parts, piece by piece. And a Monroe stabilizer, just the basic one on Amazon. There is a Crown kit for it but people say it's not good quality. There's a thread in the How To section that has a parts list in the first post. I just bought that.

The Moog stuff comes unpainted, usually, some people have gotten lucky. The parts I got seem good quality, I didn't have any issues putting it together and installing.

My GY MTRs have over 60K mi on them, and of course aren't perfectly evenly worn. Started having death wobble. Pulled the OEM stabilizer, it had almost no resistance left. Replaced it with the Monroe Magnum stabilizer, wobble is now back under control.

Of course, the root cause is the wear pattern on the tires, will replace them soon.
