Track bar bracket repair at front axle

Trying to resurrect a front Dana 44 for another Jeep and the PO did this to the axle.. Any thoughts on a repair? Weld a piece of channel?

I bought a fabricated bracket to replace the factory one, it is 3/16” steel and would weld right in. I don’t remember where I bought it but I’m sure a search would yield a few years options. Try,GenRight,Barnes,or artec

This is exactly what I did. Took my time to cleanly remove all the old metal and welded the new piece in. Worked like a charm…
