Trailer wiring 2006 TJ

Bought a Curt custom wiring harness #55363. Instructions seemed simple. Plugged in drivers side ran wires to passenger side. There is a big plastic box blocking everything. I think it is part of the emission control system. How do I get at the plug?

You have to pull the evap canister out to get to the tail light wiring. Not hard to do. The manual describes how to remove it.

As a side note.....on my 2006, all tail light wiring is on the drivers side all in one connector. I can’t remember what brand trailer wiring harness I bought, but it just connected into the connector on the drivers side and the four flat plug had everything there......both turn signals, brake lights, and marker lights.

Same, I forget what brand my trailer harness was but it plugged in on the drivers side.

I have this Hopkins 42625 kit on my '06 Unlimited. Only used the wiring on the drivers side tail light and works as advertised.
