Transfer Case Input Shaft Question

I have a 2000 TJ with a 5.9L from a 2000 Durango both are auto trans. I am using my TC from the TJ witch is a np231J. However I noticed the input shaft is like a 1/2" longer than the Dodge np242D. Will the input shaft from the 242D work in the 231J? Or do I need to buy a something different? Any advice is appreciated.

If the diameter and spline are the same and the mounting lines up then you can just cut the extra length of the 241 input shaft down to the 242 length and make sure to put a bit of a bevel on the end of the shaft with no bursts or bends in the splines and everything should bolt up like stock.
